Surprisingly, most of them told us that they want the laptop which can perform all types of works, but they don’t want to spend more than $500 for it!

…Shall we?

1. Dell Inspiron i3567

Taking everything into consideration, this Dell Inspiron is a laptop good enough for daily usage. It features a powerful Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, and ample 2TB storage. The performance of Windows 10 is commendable but you might want to remove the pre-installed bloatware and improve its performance a bit.GizmoGIGA recommends this Dell laptop for moderate home or office users. If you are going to use this laptop for Office Suit, data-entry, web-browsing, watching movies, and occasional gaming, this laptop is for you.At the time of writing this review, Dell Inspiron i3567-5664BLK-PUS is priced at $479 on Amazon. We also recommend you to have a look at ASUS VivoBook F510UA which is priced almost the same as this Dell laptop but provides better value for money.

2.  Acer Aspire E15

Short of a major sale, you’ll have a hard time finding a laptop with impressive specs like a 256GB solid-state drive, a 1080p screen and a speedy CPU for less than $600. A fantastic value, the $599 Acer E 15 (E5-576G-6762) offers the full-HD screen and generous SSD, along with an 8th Gen Core i5 CPU and discrete Nvidia MX150 graphics. This machine also provides all-day battery life, solid sound, a DVD drive and a comfortable keyboard, but it does fall short in a few areas. The 15-inch display is dimmer than we’d like, the chassis is rather heavy and it packs some bloatware you’ll want to delete on sight. However, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another notebook that gives you this level of performance and functionality at anywhere near this price.

3.  HP 15-ay191ms Laptop

I must say the processor in HP 15-ay191ms does a good job. The 7th generation Intel Core i3-7100U is a typical dual-core chip with 2.4GHz clock rate (without turbo). But when you compare it to other models you’ll see its strength: CPU Mark score gives this unit ~3800 points, very close to what i5-6200U gets. So in a sense, it’s i5-level performance in i3.The RAM sector is all good, with one 8GB DDR4 2133MHz stick installed. It’s unclear whether there are extra slots available, but at least you’re able to upgrade the current stick to 16GB one if you want to. That would give some extra performance but not so much that the RAM upgrade is really justified.Admittedly, it’s not the best storage drive in this notebook. The 1TB 5400RPM hard drive reminds me of the old times, yet here it is in this modern laptop. But such a spinning disk drive can’t be bashed too much: you can hardly ever fill it up with data! And if you, or someone you know, has skills, upgrade to SSD can be done.

Hardware Specifications of HP 15-ay191ms Laptop
Processor Intel Core i3-7100U 7th Generation 2.4 GHz Dual Core Processor
Storage 1TB 5400 RPM HDD

4.  Lenovo Ideapad 320

The Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15IKB is a multimedia laptop that can cover a wide range of use thanks to its hardware. The basic configuration offers users a faster and more modern Intel Core i5-8250U with a dedicated Nvidia GeForce MX150, which is equipped with its own VRAM (2 GB of GDDR5). For a price of around $489, the device also comes with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 256-GB SSD. Lenovo has decided to keep the previous model’s matte TN panel. If you do not mind spending a little more money, you can purchase the Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15IKB with an Intel Core i7-8550U and an Nvidia GeForce MX150 with 4 GB of VRAM. This also gives you the option of a combination of SSD and HDD drives. The price for this configuration is at around $899.

5. ASUS Chromebook Flip

The concept of a premium Chromebook has been around for about as long as Google’s laptop brand itself, but it’s an idea that hasn’t been able to properly succeed. We could talk all day, contemplating what went wrong in the past, but we don’t need to – the Asus Chromebook Flip is the answer you’ve been waiting for to satisfy your premium chromebook-ing needs. While it doesn’t feature the same raw power of something like the Google Pixelbook, it costs about half as much while offering specs nearly identical to its competitors, but for a much more attainable $499 (£599, about AU$650) price tag. It’s easy to see why the Asus Chromebook Flip succeeds – without needing to concede anything. What makes the Chromebook Flip even more impressive is that it boasts a 360-degree hinge that lets it “flip” inside out, hence its name. At 12.5 inches and 2.6 pounds, the Asus Chromebook Flip isn’t just ‘good for a Chromebook,’ it might just be one of the best laptops you can buy, depending on your needs.
